Tarendra Lakhankar
PhD

Dr. Tarendra Lakhankar has led research projects supporting NOAA and NASA satellite remote sensing missions in water prediction and ecosystem services. He has shown strong leadership by designing and managing major field campaigns, including Snow-SAFE in Caribou, ME, the Soil Moisture Campaign at CUNY-SMART in Millbrook, NY, and the NYC-Urban HydroMet Testbed. The NYC testbed involved installing 21 weather stations across public schools, botanical gardens, and community colleges in New York City. These efforts have generated valuable data, enhanced weather and water forecasting, and raised environmental awareness. His work has resulted in publications in top-tier journals. Dr. Lakhankar has also mentored many undergraduate and graduate students, led research meetings, secured grants, and organized professional development activities.
